My Pregnancy Journey Thus Far

Now that I am starting on the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy, i took time to reflect on my pregnancy journey…

Well, I follow Babycenter weekly to better prepare myself; like what to expect etc.. So i did a simple comparison of the guide on Babycenter vs my actual experience.

(in order of supposed occurrence, my actual experience is in brackets)

1st Trimester, 8 –12 Weeks:

– morning sickness

(Yes! in fact it was so terrible, i puked out whatever i ate, and lost 3kg in 2weeks. i puked at home, in the car, at foodcourts.. Becos of that, Kel plants plastic bags in my bag, wallet, in the car, carries 1 wherever he goes)

- Pee more than usual

(not really.. i attribute it to my bad habit of not drinking enough water and my well trained bladder)

- bigger chest size

(Yup yup! totally happy about it)

- fatigue

(i am always tired..)

- mood swings

(i think so… some days i just don’t feel happy for no reason)

- widening of waist

(duh!)

- Constipation

(Yes, this one too.. it got a lot worse after i started eating multi vitamins and iron supplements)

- heartburn

(Yup, which is why i try not to eat too full for each meal, else i will feel extremely uncomfortable for a good 30mins)

2nd Trimester, 13 – 24 Weeks:

- morning sickness & fatigue subsides

(yes. miraculously! it’s like my body has a clock to recognise when the 1st trimester ends.. i was still puking like crazy one day then the next day, it totally stopped!)

- nosebleed

(nope, thank God..)

- “glowing skin”

(at the beginning of my pregnancy, i had a very terrible outbreak on my face.. by the time i hit the 2nd trimester, my face became visibly smoother.. so i guess.. that’s “”glowing”?!?)

- Baby movement

(yup, i feel it numerous times a day.. it is not painful, just a tad uncomfortable… at least i know the baby is alive)

- unsteady on your feet

(i seldom/rarely fall/trip because of bad balance… but i must admit that i am starting to waddle.. i can’t do the ANTM runway catwalk anymore)

- eyes becoming drier

(yes! pretty strange, i rub my eyes very often at night)

- increase in appetite

(yes again! right after the 1st trimester, my appetite became very good.. gained 8kg so far.. oh Lord)

- blood pressure will probably be lower than usual

(my blood pressure has always been on the lower side, but i did have 1 occasion when i nearly fainted in office… my gynae even joked that the problem is aggravated due to my height.. “thanks leh”.. to solve it, i have to lift/raise my legs as often as i can)

- patches of darkened skin caused by a temporary increase in pigment

(hmm… i think slightly)

- weight gain

(duh!)

- development of acne

(not really.. thankfully)

- varicose veins & spider veins

(yup, i can see those scarey green coloured veins very clearly)

- stretch marks

(trying very hard to avoid it by applying lots of body oil)

- ankles and feet start to swell

(starting to notice that too)

- more hair

(not really! i wish!!)

- lower back ache

(yep again)

- leg cramp

(yes.. once in a while… sigh)

Many people have asked me if i’ve got any particular cravings..

Hmm, durians, prata, maggie mee, broccoli, bubble tea, coffee, chocolate ice-cream.. just to name a few… Kel NEVER had to leave the house in the middle of the night to buy me food.. i think sleep is more important to me.. so.. good for him i guess.

I think i am really looking forward to the birth of my son… because, i do not particularly enjoy the pregnancy process… ANYWAY.. 2 more months!! i countdown everyday..

Now, time to think about what to name my son….
